Identification, House and Car

 

Praise the Lord with us for providing Scott’s Ecuadorian ID card! After 17 months of unsuccessful paperwork he finally has it! There are still some issues with his data in the system, and when he went to the office to check on it the other day it looked like he would once again be unsuccessful. Nevertheless, a very kind and reasonable lady had compassion on him and went the extra mile to make sure he could get it. She walked with him to another government office and talked in person with a guy who also committed to helping. Then she wrote a short message on a post-it note and signed it, effectively circumventing the irregularities on everyone’s computer. A couple hours later, Scott walked out of the Registro Civil with his card in hand! Thanks for your prayers to help make it possible.

We have been busy selling and packing our belongings. Yesterday our shipping company came to collect the items we are sending to Kansas. We hope to be fully moved out of our apartment on Tuesday. Needless to say, we’re a little tired!

The last big task here will be to sell our car. We’ve started to spread the word and we’ve had a few nibbles but so far nothing has fully materialized. It’s time to publicize more broadly and hopefully make a deal with someone in the next few days. Pray for wisdom and safety in this area; buying and selling vehicles in Ecuador is a lot more sketchy than what we’re used to.

Our plan is to travel back in a week or two. We’re excited to move back to the US, but it’s also emotional to think of ending our time here. We have full confidence, however, that this is the right time, and we’re looking forward to seeing how our next phase of ministry will develop!
